Learning differences not only affect a student's academic progress, but can also impact the ability to process important information related to feelings, social situations and relationships. Dr. Mamen's presentation will facilitate an understanding of how learning difficulties affect a range of behavioural and emotional issues, including:

anxiety/panic,
obsessive-compulsive behaviours,
depression,
attentional problems,
oppositional defiant behaviours,
social skills difficulties.

The focus of the workshop will be on language-based abilities, pattern recognition and visualization, and will address ways in which parents, teachers and other involved professionals can understand the impact of these learning differences, predict various potential problem areas, and therefore learn how to manage them.
